“NYG 1985 Wild Card Intro Vs 49ers”

FromĀ NY Giants

The NFL on CBS was a great show for many reasons and Pat Summerall might of been the number one reason. But their timing and intros were classic and so well done and knew exactly how to put things and show things to people.

Pat Summerall: “First New York Giants home playoff game since the 1962 NFL Championship that was at Yankee Stadium”, the day this wildcard game was played. Giants Stadium opened up in East Rutherford, New Jersey in 1976 and this was the first Giants home playoff game there.

How does CBS Sports introduce this game, with Bruce Spingsteen singing Glory Days. The Glory Days of the New York Giants from the 1950s and early 60s. With Pat Summerall a former New York Giant of course doing the intro. A simple two-minute video or so and this is one of best NFL videos and intros of all-time. Just for those reasons.

1986 playoffs game 4 Capitals at Rangers (OT thriller)Source:MSG– the Capitals vs the Rangers in 1986.

“After falling behind Washington 2 games to 1, the Rangers badly needed a game four win at home.
They got it with another memorable come-from-behind high scoring OT winner similar to game 1. This win would be the turning point of the series, as they would go on to win both games 5 & 6.
The OT starts at 1:31:07 for those who want to skip ahead.
Rangers classic edited rebroadcast from the 2005 lockout year. Missing about a third of the game, I would guess.

and nostalgic reasons only.”

When I was growing up in Bethesda, Maryland in the 1980s, it was common, if not annual for the Capitals to lose a 1st round playoff series, to one of their Patrick Division rivals. Generally it was to the New York Islanders or Philadelphia Flyers. But in 1986, the Capitals beat the Islanders in the quarterfinals and then faced the Rangers in the Eastern Semifinals.

Bullets Score 18 Consecutive, Come Back and Win (1986 Playoffs)

Source:Lamar Matic– the Wizards and 76ers from 1986.

“One of the greatest NBA comebacks ever. The Washington Bullets are down by 17 with 4 minutes left and seems like have lost the first playoffs game of 1986. However, veteran Dan Roundfield scoring on one end and Charles Barkley with Julius Erving choking on the other lets the Bullets get back in the game and win it with an impossible game winning three by Dudley Bradley. 1986 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs Round 1 Game 1.”

FromĀ Lamar Matic

Definitely one of the most surprising comeback victories of all-time and perhaps the best comeback in Bullets playoff history.

You come back from eighteen points with four minutes left in the game especially in a playoff game, you are getting a lot of breaks with the team with the lead falling asleep and thinking theyā€™ve already won the game. Which is what the 76ers did, as well as the Bullets never giving up and coming up with a lot of great plays. Especially on defense, but scoring every time they had the ball.

When you have a big lead like this, all you really have to do is work the clock, donā€™t turn the ball over and hit your foul shots. You do all of those things and even if the other team scores every time they have the ball, they wonā€™t have enough time to come all the way back. The 76ers failed to even do these basic fundamental things late in this game.

“šŸˆ1986 National Championship: #1 Miami (Fl) v. #2 Penn State (1987 Fiesta Bowl)”

FromĀ Jeff McDaniel

If you look at this matchup, I don’t want to say it looks like a mismatch on paper, but when you consider all the future NFL players on the Miami Hurricanes roster, including Pro Bowlers like Vinnie Testeverde, Michael Irvin, and many others and the Pennsylvania Nittany Lions starting QB not even completing 50% of his passes, playing for a team that had to have a great defense and running game, just to win games, the game being played in hot weather, with all the speed that the Hurricanes had, it’s a wonder how the Nittany Lions even made this game close, let alone won the game.

MISL New York Express at Chicago Sting 12-19-86_mpg (2011) - Google Search

Source:Joey Teefizz– the New York Express trying not to get stung, by the Chicago Sting, in Rosemont, Illinois. (Pun intended)

ā€œMISL Soccer at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago. Frank Klopas with a good gameā€¦Shep Messing Halftime Interviewā€

FromĀ Joey Teefizz

I guess the Chicago Sting struggling to draw fans to their games and moved from the Chicago Stadium, which was one of the better downtown sports arenas for both hockey and basketball, as well as concerts and other events in America, out to Rosemont, Illinois one of the suburbs of Chicago.

Chicago was never a great market for the MISL. The Sting and other clubs that they tried in that huge market which is one of the better soccer markets in America, was never great for arena soccer. Not that arena soccer canā€™t work there, but the sport needs to be better marketed in that market. Same thing with New York, Los Angles, Washington (to use as other examples) where there are several other sports franchises in those markets. But also where thereā€™s also a lot for people to do there outside of sports.

ā€œMansonBlog.com had the distinct pleasure of spending a day with John Aes-Nihil. John directed (among others) a film called ā€œManson Family Movies (1984)ā€. If you havenā€™t seen it, you should.

Aes-Nihil is an archivist, collector and broker of all things Manson (among many other subjects). His Manson archives alone covers 3 buildings, so we only scratched the surface of this magnificent collection. Today we present you with a small taste of what we saw. If you are looking for a particular item you can contact him through his website.ā€

John Aes Nihil_ Charles Manson Interview

Source:Bernard Gibson– convicted serial murderer Charles Manson, being interviewed at San Quentin Prison.

As evil as Charlie Manson might have been or still is and he was clearly and evil man, whose responsible for the murders of a lot of innocent people and even seem to draw pleasure from them, thatā€™s not the whole story about Charlie.

You donā€™t put together a crime family like the Manson Crime Family if you donā€™t have some leadership ability that not only draws people to you, but you can make them do things they normally wouldnā€™t do. Like good middle class teenagers, people who should be in college, going out and murdering innocent people, people who are complete strangers to you. Because you see them as part of some establishment thatā€™s holding down the rest of the country.

Charlie Manson blamed his situation in life, on society and to a certain extent he was correct. Coming from a broken home, never knowing his father, barely knowing his mother, being shipped around as a kid. Doesnā€™t excuse the fact of all the people he had murdered, but he got off to a real bad start in life.

Once Manson became an adult and got out of prison for the last time in life, he decided that he was going to takeout his frustrations on society, as much as he can for as long as he can. Charlie Manson and his young Baby Boomer soldiers, against the rest of the world.

What we saw from Charlie Mansonā€™s power was not only the ability for him to make people do things they wouldnā€™t normally do, like things as evil as murdering people, but people who basically fell in love with him. And saw him as a God or Jesus Crisis, people who idealize a murderer. Which is what we saw in this interview. Even though people who are doing life sentences in prison, partially for hooking up with Charlie Manson. Who see him for exactly what he is a cold-blooded murderer that would manipulate people to do what he wouldnā€™t do himself.
