“šŸˆ1986 National Championship: #1 Miami (Fl) v. #2 Penn State (1987 Fiesta Bowl)”

FromĀ Jeff McDaniel

If you look at this matchup, I don’t want to say it looks like a mismatch on paper, but when you consider all the future NFL players on the Miami Hurricanes roster, including Pro Bowlers like Vinnie Testeverde, Michael Irvin, and many others and the Pennsylvania Nittany Lions starting QB not even completing 50% of his passes, playing for a team that had to have a great defense and running game, just to win games, the game being played in hot weather, with all the speed that the Hurricanes had, it’s a wonder how the Nittany Lions even made this game close, let alone won the game.

George Seagal plays a murderous, crooked, LAPD detective lieutenant, who wants Wellman Santee (played by Dolph Lundten) dead or at least back in prison, because Santee who is a career criminal, but he could put Lieutenant Severance (played by George Seagal) in prison for his murders and other crimes. Kristian Alfonso is a LAPD patrol officer who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (so to speak) and gets taken hostage by Santee.Ā Ā

I gotta admit, Joshua Tree or Army of One and this movie for some reason has two titles depending on how you see it, or what network it is on, but this movie is not a very good movie. Sure it has a decent car chase and there are some pretty good action scenes and perhaps I’m just not much of a Dolph Lundgren who is mostly famous for Rocky 4, ( sorry, I’m horrible with Roman numerals) fan. But this movie is worth watching for other reasons. George Seagal is his usual smart-ass funny self. And Kristian Alfonso plays a great sexy tough cop, looking for her big case.

Dolph Lundgren plays an escape convict who of course is innocent of why he was put in prison. But he’s hardly innocent of much else and gets a break and manages to escape from prison when their bus breaks down. He is a career criminal and learns that his best friend and partner has been murdered by the crooked cop, sergeant or lieutenant that put him away played by George Segal. So while he’s out of prison he’s on the run and kidnaps a rookie or somewhat inexperienced police officer played by Kristian Alfonso who it out of uniform and steals her pickup with her in it.

They are on the run together because he doesn’t want to go back to prison and has her as her hostage. He won’t hurt her though if she doesn’t give him any reason to. She later takes his side even after attempting to escape from him and gets ditched by him in the desert when he believes he doesn’t need her anymore. But she now believes that he’s innocent of why he was put in prison and that the crooked cop and his crew are the bad guys here and does what she can to help him as a cop.

Not a good movie except for a few parts, but Kristian Alfonso simply looked great in it. The hot sexy baby version of Kristian that I wish she brought out more on Days of Our Lives is the Kristian we see in this movie. And she looks great and adorable kicking ass in her classic Levis denim jeans and boots and plays a hot, sexy cop that I can’t imagine any man his right mind would want to ditch. And she and Dolph save the day sort of and the bad guy and gal put away some bad cops.

The Young Turks_ Ana Kasparian & Cenk Uygur- 'HBO's Game Change Preview'

Source:The Young Turks– actress Julianne Moore as Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, in HBO’s Game Change.

ā€œA trailer of HBOā€™s ā€˜Game Changeā€™ is reviewed by Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks. Tell us in the comment section below if you will be watching the movie?ā€

FromĀ The Young Turks

I saw the movie last night about an hour of it actually. I think Ed Harris did a good job of playing Senator John McCain and Woody Harrelson did a good job of playing Steve Schmidt and Sarah Palin was clearly not up to the job of Vice President, or President right now.

We knew that Sarah Palin was not up from prime-time four years ago, so even the facts that were in the movie were not new. We knew that the McCain Campaign didnā€™t do a very good job of vetting Sarah Palin. Basically a little known Governor of Alaska, who may feel she lives in a foreign nation, because of how isolated Alaska is with the Continental United States.

I do have a hard time believing that Steve Schmidt and company would only spend 72 hours researching someone they barely knew if at all, because these people are way too smart for that. And that Senator McCain wouldnā€™t know how little research they did on his vice presidential nominee. The most important decision that a Presidential Nominee will make.

To take this movie at face value, you have to assume that the McCain Campaign was throwing a Hail Mary. Expecting to lose the presidential election to Barack Obama and that they needed someone who the Republican base would like personally, someone who could match Barack Obama when it comes to personality. Someone that would be seen as a political celebrity. If thatā€™s what their goal, then theyā€™ve more than succeeded. Because Sarah Palin is a political celebrity today, thanks to Senator John McCain. She has 100% name ID and is probably the most liked Republican in the party personally.

The McCain Campaign paid a heavy price for picking Sarah Palin politically with Governor Palin not being able to answer questions that a high school or college student could answer. Like what is the Federal Reserve and making statements that a high school or college student know arenā€™t true. Like the Vice President being the Leader of the Senate.

Julianne Moore is a fine actress, but way too upscale to not sound like an elitist not intentionally to play Sarah Palin. They wouldā€™ve been better off using Julia Dryfuss or even Tina Fey to play Palin. Not a very good movie and definitely a movie not a documentary. And probably light on facts as well.
